BREAKING NEWS: Norton response to Herald article

RNC Chairman TJ Norton

The following is a statement from TJ Norton,Chairman of the RNC. It is unedited for public viewing and opinion.

After having received a copy of a story which will soon be in wide circulation, I have a public statement to make in response to the content of the story.
I ask all Titulians for privacy at this time while I assess any political or social impact as a result of the release of this story and its contents.  As per Erina's statement, I too will not confirm or deny the accuracy or even existence of its contents.
I appreciate free press in Titulia and as a Director of the parent company that owns the newspaper that published it I will say this.  I have not spoken to Ms Moreville nor have I responded to a request for comment due to two reasons.  First, because I do not wish to give the appearance of a cover up by any involvement on my part.  Secondly, because it is a private matter and there is more than one or two people involved in this.
Although I believe it is not the public's business, I have made a personal admission to my partner and I will leave it at that.  I will not go into what was said in any alleged messages, what was said between my partner and myself or what, if anything, will determine my future in the Republican Party.
Those are questions for relevant people and the members of my party to consider.
But let me say this clearly.  Despite this story, the facts that stand above all remain.  President McVicker is a gentlemen of great honour and has led this nation well for the past month.  I have every confidence that he will be judged on his record of achievement and will continue to be of service to Titulia.  I believe she will elect him again for yet another term in office.
Obviously there will be a fair degree of coverage about all of this over the following hours, days and perhaps week to come.  I want to assure all Titulians that I will not speak to the content of these messages and if compelled to in a Court, I say come and get me.
I have committed no crime and broken no ethical standard.  However, I will honour any decision the Republican Party may make as toward any part of these allegations they may find offensive.  If called before any party tribunal I will of course honour that, but my response shall remain the same - no comment as it is a private matter.
I ask Titulia's media for privacy at this time.  The campaign comes first and I am disappointed that this matter will insinuate itself into the process, however large or small.
Thank you.

OPINION/What do you think of the allegations towards Norton? Did he give an appropriate response? What is your opinion of his response?
