TITULIA CITY | Press Secy and Min for the Arts Erina Jensen (PCBTP) has resigned as Press Secretary. She will continue to serve as Min for the Arts. The following statement was released:
RESIGNATION AS LIBERTY HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY -
SATURDAY 1ST AUGUST 2009
Good afternoon everyone. Effective of 5:00 PM AEST today on Saturday 1st August 2009, I have resigned as Liberty House press secretary and closing the Liberty House press office.
This will not affect my cabinet responsibilities as Minister for Communication and the Arts.
I have resigned for the sole reason that the media don't appear to have any further interest in this office and it's a better reallocation of my time and resources to my department.
This is perhaps been the most enjoyable role I could have ever had. But it is a waste of the citizens time to read the briefings if no one is going to participate. The president and fellow cabinet colleagues have also elected to issue directly to the media which makes this office redundant and irrelevant.
With the election due to be called in just under 14 days I imagine the politics and the personal influence of the political party machines will also try to take aim at this office while doing the people's work. While I directly serve the president as press secretary, the office is apolitical and I cannot allow my work to hurt the president in any way.
We all know that our opposition is dedicated to the ways of 'old government' that damaged this country terribly -- and are notorious for dirty tricks. By this move I have cut them off at the pass and concentrated on putting people first as I always have since day one.
I thank those in the media for their kindness and support during the time I have served in this role. Most importantly, thank you to President Teacher and my cabinet colleagues I adore. I look forward to our continued work -- from here on in -- solely as a Minister.
God bless the people's republic of Titulia!
