As you may have noticed, I enjoy talking politics. That's the main reason I joined Titulia - I'm a political junkie. But there is more to Titulia than just talking politics. Titulia is a user driven website. As the user we have a lot we can do to influence this site. An important part of this site is the economy and it has been languishing. The best thing about the economy is that it is completely user directed. It is up to those who wish to partipate in the economy to decide what they want to do with it. If you want to sit on property, you can do that. If you want to build a cinema, you can do that.
I think there is a consensus in Titulia that the citizens don't want government to own or run businesses. I agree with this. The government should not be involved in business but should do its best to encourage it.
One important thing government can do is to provide land grants to those businesses it believes will benefit Titulia. This will of course be controled by the proposition board. One business I believeTitulia desparately needs is architects. We have the city map and I really think we should populate it with artistic creations. Once one or several architects become established in Titulia I hope the citizens will use their services. I certainly see the government using these services. I find government landmarks to be quite bland in Titulia and we need to 'spice' them up.
Government can also provide advice to those citizens wishing to start a business in Titulia. I have been involved in Titulia for quite some time so I know many of the people here. I know where one can find a loan, who has programming knowledge, that sort of thing. I'm also an 'idea guy' so if you want to brainstorm ideas, feel free to bounce a few off me.
Outside of business, an important part of an economy is the non-profit organization. Non-profits provide services outside of government for low or no fees. Government should support these organizations if they have a viable business plan and good management. Support could mean financial support for salaries.
With my ideas to encourage participation I hope we can start to see that those who want to support the economy will be able to do so. Now, I don't think anyone will 'get rich' by working for the gov't. That's not the purpose. But if after they work for gov't and want to start business with the funds they raised, then maybe they can. Or they can bet some money on the horses. Or donate the money to a non-profit. Or whatever else the citizens of Titulia think of. Its really up to the citizens. I believe I have the ideas to help encourage this.
